As the name suggests, mud pumps are used to move mud in industrial applications.Sujal Engineering's pumps are manufactured to the highest standards in the industry and have a customer base across India and overseas applications.Slurry pumps are an industry favorite because they pump corrosive and abrasive slurries at low energy.Available in single-acting and double-acting models, these pumps ensure high functionality and higher performance with low operating and maintenance costs. Effective and efficient handling of hazardous and corrosive materials as the pump is made of stainless steel.
Working principle
The working principle of the slurry pump is that the slurry enters the pump through the eye of the rotating impeller, and the impeller makes a circular motion. The slurry moves outward under the action of centrifugal force and moves between the blades of the impeller. The slurry reaches high velocity as it reaches the edge of the impeller. In the casing, its high velocity energy is converted into pressure energy. The pump uses centrifugal force to increase the pressure of liquid and solid particles, converting electrical energy into kinetic energy to pump the slurry. This mechanism makes pumping hazardous and light slurries easy and maintenance-free.
Benefits of Slurry Pump for Industrial applications
Easy maintenance.
Low capital costs.
Simple mechanism.
Robust machinery.
Stainless steel material to reduce wear and tear.
Applications of Slurry Pumps
Slurry pumps are the most common choice for the most common applications such as water supply, pressurization, pumping for domestic needs, auxiliary fire protection systems, hot water circulation, sewage discharge and regulation of boiler water. Some of the major sectors where these pumps are used are:
Petroleum and energy-pumping crude oil, slurry, mud used in refineries, power plants.
Waste Management Wastewater Treatment-Wastewater Treatment Plants,Municipal Industries and Drainage.
Pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries-paints,hydrocarbons,petrochemicals,mining,cellulose,sugar refining, food and beverage production.
Types of Slurry pumps
Slurry pumps can be classified into several types depending on various factors such as design, application and service.
Factors of pump | Types of slurry pumps |
Number of impellers | ● Single stage ● Two-stage ● Multi-stage |
Type of case-split | ● Axial split ● Radial split |
Type of impeller design | ● Single suction ● Double suction |
By type of volute | ● Single volute ● Double volute |
Depending on where the bearing support is | ● Overhung ● Between-bearing |
Depending on shaft orientation | ● Horizontal |
